Thailand Trade and Economic Office, in cooperation with Tourism Authority of Thailand, Taipei City Department of Labor, Taipei City Department of Cultural Affairs, Taoyuan City Government, Taichung City Government and National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, organized the “Thailand Week 2011” and “Thai Cultural Festival 2011” from Thursday 7 to Tuesday 12 April 2011 in Tainan, Taipei, Taoyuan and Taichung.
The opening activity of "Thailand Week 2011" was the “Going Green for the Future, Invest Thailand” Seminar organized by Thailand Board of Investment, Taipei Office, at Shangri-la Far-Eastern Plaza Hotel, Tainan. Mr. Wiboon Khusakul, Executive Director of Thailand Trade and Economic Office, delivered opening remarks and pointed out the strengths of Thailand as one of the world’s most attractive investment hub. He also stressed potential of Thailand, which is the center of logistics and transportation networks of ASEAN, “ASEAN Connectivity”, especially the Northeastern part, in being an important hub for eco-industry such as solar powered system.
The Seminar was attended by over 60 businesspersons who had the opportunity to receive first-hand information on investor priviledges from Mr. Chokedee Kaewsang, Deputy Secretary General of Thailand Board of Investment. Several businesspersons sought for more detailed information about investing in Thailand following the seminar.
From 8 – 12 April 2011, Thailand Trade and Economic Office organized the “Thai Cultural Festival 2011” as a part of the “Thailand Week 2011”. The “Thai Cultural Festival 2011” featured performances by the Suntaraporn Band and Klong Bang Luang Puppet Theater during “Taipei Songkran Festival 2011” organized by Taipei City Government and “Taoyuan Songkran Festival 2011” organized by Taoyuan City Government on 9 and 10 April 2011, followed by performances at the Family Theater in Taipei City Hall on 11 April 2011 and at Chung-Hsin Hall, Taichung on 12 April 2011.
The “Thai Cultural Festival 2011” has drawn attention of the public, and many Taiwanese and Thais who currently reside in Taiwan, as well as diplomatic corps and foreign audiences, have enjoyed the performances.
The performances by Suntaraporn Band, which is the most famous band in the history of Thailand and the late Euah Suntornsananm, the band founder, has been honoured by UNESCO to be Personality of the Year 2009 – 2010, together with the “Hanuman captures Princess Benjakai” Performance by Klong Bang Luang Puppet Theater, greatly contributed to the promotion of Thai arts and culture among Taiwanese and foreign audiences.
The “Thailand Week 2011”, which included variety of activities, was organized in order to increase understanding among Taiwanese people about many aspects on Thailand and to enhance people-to-people relations, as well as create an opportunity in economic, trade, investment and tourism. |
