Thailand Roadshow 1/2011 and the 45th Thai Cooking Demonstration in Hijuelas

  On 26 April 2011, Miss Vipawan Nipatakusol, Ambassador of Thailand led Team Thailand and the Municipality of Hijuelas in jointly organizing  "Thailand Roadshow in Chile 2011". The activities included seminar where information about Thailand was presented in Spanish by the Thai Ambassador in a comprehensive manner, dissemination of documentations on Thailand, demonstration and tasting of Thai cooking as well as display of Thai products and Thai film show for the high school students. 


          In her speech, Ambassador gave a brief introduction and an overview of Thailand and pointed out that new business opportunities were evidently opened in both countries and should be further explored. Tourism cooperation could also be promoted between Thailand and Chile. Thailand’s potentials in various industrial sectors were highlighted. The audience was also encouraged to visit Thailand to get to know Thailand better.


          Almost 200 people attended the cooking demonstration and enjoyed Thai Food prepared by cooks from the Thai Residence. The Thai dishes were Kanompang Na Moo (Pork Kanape), Tom Yam Goong (Spicy and Sour Shrimps Soup), Kaeng Kiaw Wan Kai (Chicken Green Curry), Moo Pad Nam Prik Pao (Stir fried Pork with Chili Paste) and Kao Niaw Piak Lamyai (Longan with Sweet sticky rice) as well as assorted Thai canned fruits.


          After the cooking demonstration, Ambassador hosted a Thai a luncheon for invited guests such as the Mayor of Hijuelas, council members of the Municipality, Valparaiso Regional Counselor, businessmen and regional director of El Observatorio as well as director of El Mercurio de Valparaiso newspaper. Both sides also exchanged views on potentials and opportunities to further enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.


           Hijuelas is the city in Quillotas Province of Chile’s fifth region of Valparaiso. It is known as “the Capital of the flowers” as it is the largest producer of flowers in Chile, Contributing more than 49% of Chile’s total production.
